Terms of Use Agreement
The parties to this Agreement are His Majesty the King in right of the Province of Ontario (the "Province") and the person or individual ("you") that has been or will be issued an account to access various online services offered by Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers ("OCCIT") and other participating organizations.
You are deemed to have accepted this Agreement by specifying that you have read and accepted these Terms of Use on this Web page. You must then complete the registration information following this Agreement. Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers, upon receipt of your completed registration information may, at its sole discretion, issue you an account. If Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers does not issue you an account, this Agreement is rescinded.
In consideration of providing you with an account, you agree as follows.
1) You agree to abide by the terms of this Agreement.
2) You consent to the collection of your registration information.
3) You consent to the disclosure of your registration information to any online services you apply for or access using your account.
4) You will not:
a) permit any third-party to use your account user ID or password;
b) divulge, share, or compromise your account password;
c) use or attempt to use your account user ID of any other person;
d) test or examine the security related your account;
e) take any action that might reasonably be construed as compromising, altering or rendering ineffective the system; or
f) decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the system.
5) Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers may cancel your account at anytime, in its sole discretion, if:
a) you fail to abide by this Agreement;
b) as a security measure; or
c) for administrative purposes.
d) If you do not use your account for a period of twelve consecutive months, it may be classified as inactive and may be cancelled.
6) You agree that Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers is not responsible for any costs, losses or damages you may incur:
a) because of matters outside of its control, including the availability of the Internet; or
b) because the services or/and e-services is not available for any reason; or
c) because you failed to comply with this Agreement.
7) You agree not to use your account for any purpose other than to access services offered by Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers or other participating organizations.
8) You agree and understand that Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers will not issue any refunds for its services or/and e-services as this includes but not limited to the Registration, Certification, or/and Yearly Membership Fees.
9) You agree and understand that it is your responsibility to pay the Yearly Membership Fee before the expiry date (12 months from the Certification issued date).
10) You agree and understand that Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers does not engage in any educational or training activities. Also, it is not a public college of applied arts and technology, a university, or any other degree-granting post-secondary educational institution.
11) You agree and understand that Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers does not guarantee employment on a national or/and international level. Hence, some cities, provinces, states, and countries have their own rules, laws, regulations, teaching requirements, and teaching approval procedures.
12) You agree to be bound by any changes to this Agreement that may, from time to time, be published on the Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers Website.
13) You agree that you may have to apply, and be approved, for access to some services and/or e-services.
14) You agree to observe the Terms of Use of all services and e-services accessed using your Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers account and to maintain your awareness of those terms.
15) You agree that Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, with respect to performance, quality, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers does not warrant that the function without error, failure, or interruption.
16) You will not, without the prior written consent of the Ottawa-Carleton College of Independent Teachers, assign or transfer this Agreement or any of its rights under this Agreement.
17) This Agreement is governed by and is to be construed in accordance with the laws of Ontario.
